Many would think that singing Barbershop would be something to keep in the closet, but I am really proud of the achievements that I have made in such an underrated genre.

I sing in a chorus called the Cheshire Chord Company who are a 75 strong group of amazingly talented women.  Sequins play a major part in our lives.

Singing with CCC has given me some amazing opportunities:

  • I own a European silver medal for our performance at the European championships in Eindhoven, Holland – its on a ribbon and everything.
  • We have won gold and silver at the Lady’s Association of British Barbershop Singers (LABBS) annual convention.
  • I have sung on the world famous London Palladium stage – and on a Sunday night
  • We have even sung with Wynne Evans, aka “Mr. Go Compare” and performed for the queen.

This is us winning the UK LABBS championships in 2014

I also sing in two quartets, The MIX; who are current European Champions and also my mixed quartet, silver medal winners at the world mixed championship, with my other half,  Duncan in Hannah and the Hurricanes.

  1. I loved your scientific explanation of how the octave waves fit inside each other and how the tuning is different using a piano vs the ear. I’m very new to barbershop since january and I’m a lead. Just starting a quartet also. HCMC is mic testing at international. Maybe I’ll see u there. Have a great day!

    • Welcome to the club and really pleased you found my writings useful. How exciting that you get to perform on the international stage so soon in your barbershop journey! See you in Pittsburg!
